A lot has happened in year

I havn't updated this blog for such a long time, so thought it was time to do so as such a lot of things have happened since June of 2011.

Firstly I started back at university in my second year of doing screen-writing,  the task for my second year was to do a 30 minute screenplay, so i choose to do a medical script using my knowledge of when i was a student nurse. I guess it turned out ok, as i got a 2.2 over all for the script.
the months plodded on and by october i felt out of university time i was ready to join the dating scene again so i joined a dating site called free-dating.co.uk. on there i started chatting to a man called James, and after a month or two of chatting online decided to meet up.

Novermber arrived and with that, so did my date with James, So on the 10th November 2011, we arranged that he would come to Alfreton and we would have a couple of drinks in my local pub, However the inevitable happened, i was just about to leave and he sent me a text to say he had missed his bus.  Normally i would have dissmissed him right there and then, however, i can't explain it, but i felt something was meant to be, so i arranged to drive over to Chesterfield near to where he lives, the evening went off to a great start and we chatted about friends, family, our goals for life etc...  then at the end of the night we parted. Two days later i text him to say i had a really good time and would like to see him again, also be in a relationship with him as I felt there was something great between us. To my relief, he was feeling exactly the same and wanted to be in a relationship with me.

Once again months passed, chistmas, new year and Valentines day came and went.  In March one evening James decided to cook dinner for me at his house (with his mothers help), after dinner he went into his kitchen saying he was looking for something, then came out saying he needed to talk. Alarm bells started ringing in my ears as normally "We need to talk" does not have a good outcome.  This one has though!  James said and i quote "Even though we have been together for a short time, he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me and that i was the one for him" he then got down on one knee and opened a box with a beautiful diamond ring in it. of course I said YES!

so fast forward to now, and James and I are getting married on June 29th next year, I know it  has seemed like a wirl wind relationship, but there is no explaining how I first looked at James and thought "Yep, he's the one" he makes me happy, supports me in everything i do, and i can't wait to spend the rest of my life with him and raise a family together.

Family Ties

Ephesians 4:2

Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.

So yet again, i have witnessed another one of the many arguments that happens between my grandmother and Father. These arguments are pretty stupid really often about nothing!
I sit here at my computer and wonder to myself " Why do two people who i love so very dearly have to argue so much?"
it gets to me but i am however holding my tounge.. At least i was until i heard my Grandmother shouting at my dad, in the end the only option was for me to go downstairs and tell her to shut up as i could hear the shouting from upstairs. not only does is get to me, but my grandmother always thinks that i should be taking her side, now she is not my mother, nor is she right the whole time, she says and i quote " she still feels as if she is 30 years old"  again clearly this is not the case as she constantly forgets things,  and its also a bit like treading on eggshells whenver she is around.
As a christian i often look to the bible for support, the bible states that you should be humble and gentle as well as being patient and that you should also show one another love. clearly this is not hapening at the moment! maybe things will get better if she decides to move out alltogether to her new bungalow.
On a brighter note however, i have my church weekend away this weekend (17th-19th June) funnily enought the theme for the weekend is to be a family growing in christ together, faith together and in love for one another. ( think i will be doing a lot of praying this weekend)

Faith

I thought that this time i would write about something a little different as well as filling you all in about what i have  been up to.
My first year at univeristy is over all ready and i can't quite believe it, I have passed all my modules and have found myself getting intrested in method acting whilst doing research about it for my last assignment of the term.
As for home life, like any normal family things can be a little bit hectic, so in these times i find myself turning to my faith and praying at every opportunity i get.
So what does my faith mean to me, or to any other person?
i get asked this question sometimes by non believers, my response is that, knowing that i have someone to believe in makes me feel at peace within myself, also knowing that there is someone watching over me. a book i have been reading each night called "The best of the word today to me describes my faith in the best way "Draw Near to God and he will draw near to you" - James 4:8
i feel a bit sorry for atheists , for when something good happens, who do they give thanks to? and when something bad happens who do they run to? my opinion is that if they wait until they can explain God, then  they will never turn to him, for me  however, faith in God gives me the courrage and assurance that there is a heaven and that one day he will return. when this day comes i will be ready!

christmas 2010

Once again Christmas came far too quickley. On christmas eve dad and i went to the local chiurch of england church for the midnight service, it was quite good apart from the smells and bells, and i took something away from the service, meaning that, christmas is all about spending time with the loved ones.
christmas day was good, and i got mostly things i had asked for which included some boot slippers, money, books etc. i also go the little luxorys such as chocolate which was nice.

Snow Days

the last week of november was somewhat of a blur to me, i started off going  into university on the monday, met up with my friend katy and we did some work on our presentation that we were meant to be doing on the 25th november.
so thursday came  and i trecked all the way into university only to find that .... Yes you guessed it! our module leader Robin was off sick!
Well  i ask myself, why didn't he give katy and i the extension in the first place when we asked for it?
the week got even more better after that,  for on the friday i woke up to find that it had snowed :)  what fun, so i couldn't get into university, and that conitued all last week as well.
don't think i have seen snow as deep as we have it here. In kent we did have a lot, but not deep snow, here however it was thigh deep last thursday.
Monday- 6 december 2010
well yesterday i finally made it back to university, although because there is still snow on the ground i am having to walk to Alfreton Station, where the train is much more expensive to get to sheffield, £9! too expensive :( and to top that off, the train was delayed for an hour, which meant i was frozen by the time i got to sheffield. i can only hope that next week the snow has gone enough for me to start driving back to dronfield to catch the train, not to mention the fact that i am meant to be going to the cinema to see the new narnia film on saturday, so it had better be melting by then

October 31st

yes all of you are thinking what is so special about October 31st, even though it was halloween! Well this year it was special for me as i went to Wembley to see the Annual American football game, San Fransisco 49ers play the Denva Bronco's.
the match started out a bit boring as i didn't really know the rules of the game, but my dad was fantastic and told me what was going on through out. once the game had got going, i got into the hype of things and started cheering on the 49ers. ( well have to support them really, as i support the baseball team from San-Fransisco) The cheering must of paid off because the 49ers won the match,  (very close though!)

january- november.

hi there;

what a year it has been so far, going back to january i was living in a small town in kent with my family, and suddenly my father dropped a bombshell on me. "We are going to move to derbyshire!"  as you can imagine i was a bit over the place, i was halfway through my second year at college doing a BTEC national diploma in media production and i had already been accepted to university in the south east.
well eventually the house in kent was sold and we set a moving date of the 28th may.
The drive up to derbyshire was quite fun actually, considering it was the first long drive i had done by myself, i just ended up signing along to my ipod.
so cut forward to November and i am now at sheffield Hallam university  studying Scriptwriting with screen studies and am absolutley loving it :) have mades some really good friends  and am looking forward to seeing what the next three years will bring.
